About CAPE
Community Alliance for Progressive Education (CAPE) got its start in the summer of 2012 when a group of local parents and educators recognized the need for a different model of education and learning; an opportunity to broaden education choices in our area. In our earliest meetings, we identified the ideal learning environment for our children which included aspects such as: hands-on learning, no testing or grades, whole-child approach, self-driven learning, supportive atmosphere and challenging curriculum.
We conducted years of research reviewing the latest advances in the neuroscience of learning and best practices for effective education environments. We looked at a myriad of learning models from Montessori to Waldorf, to Democratic and Free schools; from Unschooling to Homeschooling.
From that time, our organization has advocated for and developed programs that enhance education choices for local students and families. Our success can be measured in numbers, and shown in stories and photos. Please tour the website and learn about the great learning adventures our students engage in each year.
Please connect with us and share in the energy and excitement.
