Ongoing Projects:
Partnership between CAPE and Discovery Center
CAPE partners with Calumet Public Schools to provide virtual classes that have an additional learning component that provides students with flexibility in timing and choice. Classes range from ages 5 to 18 and cover an infinite number of possible topics, driven by the passion and interest of the student. We work with families to craft learning objectives tailored to each student.
Summer Sessions
CAPE is partnering with different education programs to offer academic catch-up options along with fun, outdoor activities. Stay tuned for more updates.
Owl Creek Nature School
CAPE is happy to be partnering with Owl Creek Nature School to support outdoor education and opportunities to explore local natural habitats.
Community Connections
Building strategic partnerships is a key initiative for CAPE. We are making connections with public schools, universities, education resources, nature organizations, and more.
Hub for Innovative Ventures in Education
Create a location that serves young people of all ages from 0 to 25; provide a variety of innovative education activities and opportunities for self-discovery, skill building, and preparing for a promising future.
Summer Camps
CAPE recognizes the underutilized land and nature assets of our region and will begin customer inquiry with parents and students and stakeholders now to begin imagining what summer camp experience could look like for summer.
Nature Education Consortium
CAPE sees an opportunity to bring together individuals and organizations that have a passion and desire to advance nature education in the Keweenaw region. From summer camps, to farming, to work/study for young adults, there are create ways to better utilize our natural assets.
Pre-employment/Summer Employment Programs
In order to prepare young people for their first jobs, and then looking beyond their K12 experiences, CAPE sees an opportunity to meet many community needs through programs such as these and partner with organizations who support economic development and workforce development.
