This position will focus on providing oversight for coordination and logistics of summer programming for CAPE. This position is administrative in nature, and will also require great communication skills.
Managing overall summer schedule.
Managing instructors schedule, payrolls, preparation and ongoing support.
Communicate with students and parents about program details.
Develop and use surveys to collect feedback on program quality.
Provide recommendations for quality improvement for summer programming.
Farm Education Coordinator
Start date: June 12, 2023 End date: August 20, 2023
This position will focus on developing programming for K12 students with hands-on sessions. To learn about nature, ecology, and environmental issues. This role will be actively instructing students in topics related to these issues.
Finding, accessing or developing curriculum in the topics of nature, ecology, environment, climate change, and food security.
Conduct/instruct sessions with students ranging in ages from 5 to 18.
Research and being a citizen science group for summer activity and make recommendations for continuing in the fall.
Work with all CAPE team and service members to collect feedback on summer experiences.
Capacity Building/Infrastructure
Start date: June 12, 2023 End date: August 20, 2023
This position will focus on assisting with building infrastructure capacity for the organization including populating databases, implementing and using contact management software, populating volunteer databases, and other projects as needed.
Using technology to learn software in database management and populating several databases.
Working with all team and service members to train on how to use databases once populated.
Make any Informational Technology (IT) recommendations where needed.
Train existing staff on new databases or technology.
Support other programming and project development.
Education Research/Curriculum Development
Start date: June 12, 2023 End date: August 20, 2023
This position will focus on researching education strategies for specific goals for the organization for summer and fall programming.
A major area of interest is innovative schools and programs to offer to at-risk students. Examples of this would include a program with Michigan After School Program called Million Girl Moonshot which encourages girls in 4 to 8 grades to experience science and engineering projects and consider careers in STEM.
Other areas of development include a self-directed learning lab for grades 9 to 12 to promote independent thinking and work habits to prepare students for the world of work or moving on to postsecondary education and training options.
One major goal for this service member will be to generate a database of FREE resources available to all students K to 12 in a variety of topics.
Public Relations/Marketing Outreach Coordinator
Start date: June 5, 2023 End date: August 13, 2023
This position will increase community outreach to broadcast CAPE programs that serve students and families in our community. A main focus will be to determine strategies of making our programs accessible to low income and underserved youth.
Review community data regarding population needs.
Create and implement marketing strategies to reach community youth.
Develop relationships with local community partners.
Recruit volunteers for programs.
Attend community events to inform people about the organization and services.
Work with CAPE team to create innovative marketing strategies.
Marketing Strategist/Event Planning
Start date: June 20, 2023 End date: August 28, 2023
This position will focus on developing long term marketing strategies for various aspects of the organization. Efforts at developing an events calendar for the upcoming academic year starting in September will support fundraising and outreach directives.
Collaborate with other summer service member in Public Relations and Marketing to review community data and understand the population.
Work with CAPE team to understand long term goals and develop recommendations for outreach.
Create a schedule of fundraising events and initiatives for CAPE to implement during the academic year in 2023-24.
Assist with implementing marketing activities during summer service in conjunction with fellow service members.
STEM Program Instructor
