  • Managing overall summer schedule.

Farm Education Coordinator

  • Curriculum development in the areas of biology, ecology, food security, and health. 
  • Working with the network of local farmers to ensure a safe learning environment.​

  • Accessing or developing activities and projects for K12 students to build, craft, or tinker. 
  • Populate an activities database for future projects.

  • Coordinate the makerspace schedule and plan and prepare for sessions.

  • Work with Makerspace supervisor to enhance physical space.
  • Connect with local and national donors for tools and equipment for programs. 
  • Build relationships with local makerspaces to coordinate programming.
  • Assist with session prep and maintaining safety standard.
  • Research and support development of any missing safety procedures and policies governing the space.
  • Recruit volunteers to work in the space.

This position will focus on developing programming for K12 students with hands-on sessions. To learn about nature, ecology, and environmental issues.  This role will be actively instructing students in topics related to these issues.  
  • Finding, accessing or developing curriculum in the topics of nature, ecology, environment, climate change, and food security. 
  • Conduct/instruct sessions with students ranging in ages from 5 to 18. 
  • Research and being a citizen science group for summer activity and make recommendations for continuing in the fall.

This position will focus on assisting with building infrastructure capacity for the organization including populating databases, implementing and using contact management software, populating volunteer databases, and other projects as needed.
  • Using technology to learn software in database management and populating several databases. 
  • Working with all team and service members to train on how to use databases once populated.

This position will focus on researching education strategies for specific goals for the organization for summer and fall programming.  
  • A major area of interest is innovative schools and programs to offer to at-risk students.  Examples of this would include a program with Michigan After School Program called Million Girl Moonshot which encourages girls in 4 to 8 grades to experience science and engineering projects and consider careers in STEM.
  • Other areas of development include a self-directed learning lab for grades 9 to 12 to promote independent thinking and work habits to prepare students for the world of work or moving on to postsecondary education and training options. ​
  • One major goal for this service member will be to generate a database of FREE resources available to all students K to 12 in a variety of topics.

  • Review community data regarding population needs.

This position will focus on developing long term marketing strategies for various aspects of the organization.  Efforts at developing an events calendar for the upcoming academic year starting in September will support fundraising and outreach directives. 
  • Collaborate with other summer service member in Public Relations and Marketing to review community data and understand the population. 
  • Work with CAPE team to understand long term goals and develop recommendations for outreach. 
  • Create a schedule of fundraising events and initiatives for CAPE to implement during the academic year in 2023-24.
