Ryan JonesInternHello, my name is Ryan Jones and I cannot wait to get things rolling with C.A.P.E. and gear up as a student intern! Just a little about myself, I am currently completing my final semester at MTU where I'll be graduating with my Bachelors degree in Sports and Fitness Management, and plan on starting my Masters of Business Administration here in the summer. I was extremely blessed to have played 5 years of football for Tech, and to make it out only having to go through one surgery! So obviously I'm a big sports kind of guy and never get tired of talking about athletics, but I also really enjoy the outdoors, particularly fishing has been my preferred pastime, but about a year ago I adopted a puppy from the Humane Society so she keeps me busy in my off time. I am from Sault Ste. Marie so, technically still a Yooper if that gets me any brownie points! But unfortunately for me, I am a lions fan, so any Packer fans be on alert. I can't wait to meet all of you and introduce myself a little more; super excited to get to work and have some fun with you!!

Meg KeranenInternHi, I’m Meg! I am currently a student at Michigan Technological University, where I am getting my B.S. in Exercise Science.
Throughout my time at Michigan Tech, I have taken many courses in health and the human body. I have always been passionate about health and fitness. A way that I like to include this into my professional life is to incorporate my education with youth programs and sports teams. I have been involved in the Michigan Tech Summer Youth Programs, where I had the opportunity to work with young adults in their varying programs. I have also been a sports coach for a women’s high school soccer team. Both of these experiences have allowed me to fulfill two passions of mine: educating and enriching youth programs and promoting healthy lifestyles. Outside of community involvement, in my free time I really enjoy playing sports recreationally, traveling, and reading. While working within this program, I hope to positively impact our students. I look forward to getting to know you all this year! |

Mira PietilaInternHello! My name is Mira Pietila. I am currently a sophomore at Michigan Tech majoring in Exercise Science with minors in Pre-Health Professions and Public Health. I graduated high school in 2020 from Howell High School.
I grew up in Lower Michigan with eight siblings. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, watching sports, doing winter activities, and painting. |
Emilie RummerHonors InternHi! My name is Emilie, and I’m a first year computer science major at Michigan Tech. I’m also minoring in math and technical theatre. In my free time, I love crafts, reading, and going down Wikipedia rabbit holes.
In the past, I have tutored in a variety of subjects, and I found that many times students just needed things explained in a different way. I love learning how different people visualize concepts, and I believe that teaching should cater to that visualization and creativity whenever possible. With my research, I hope to find a fun and innovative way to learn math, in hopes that more students will learn to see it as enjoyable problem solving instead of a class to dread. |
BennetT SpeaksStudent volunteerMy name is Bennett Speaks, I am a Michigan native currently studying mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University. When the weathers nice you can find me outside backcountry camping, hiking, rock climbing or riding my motorcycle into the sunset. As soon as things turn cold I hibernate in my wood and metal shop working on personal projects, and fixing the things that break.
